Rabbit FAQs
Q: What breeds of rabbits do you sell?
A: Mini lops
Q: Can rabbits live alone?
A: Research shows that rabbits should live in pairs, we do advise that you purchase a pair at the same time to improve chances of successful bonding. But, if you would like to purchase purchase one, we would advise a male so that you will have a better chance of introducing a friend to him at a later date.
Q: Can rabbits live with guinea pigs?
A: No. We are not able to sell rabbits and guinea pigs together due to multiple health and welfare concerns associated with doing so.
Q: What is the best gender combination when purchasing two rabbits?
A: This really depends on the facilities you have available. A male and female is the best pairing, but you must be able to separate them for three months whilst they are both neutered. Or you can purchase a male first, have him neutered and then introduce female. Or Same gender combinations do work, both both rabbits would need to be neutered. If getting same gender it is advised to purchase them at the same time as bonding can take time and may not always be successful.
Q: Are your baby rabbits vaccinated?
A: No. You will need to arrange vaccination of your rabbit(s). We recommend Nobivac RHD plus which covers VHD1, VHD2 and myxomatosis. Please contact your veterinarian for more information
Q: Will my rabbit(s) require vaccinations?
A: Yes. We recommend that they are vaccinated with Nobivac RHD Plus, which covers all three viruses.
Q: What should I feed my rabbit(s)?
A: Your rabbit(s) will come with a bag of change over food, this must be gradually mixed into their new food to avoid gastric upset. We recommend Excel or Science select nuggets. Rabbits diet should be made up of 80% hay, we recommend feeding Timothy hay adlib. Do not feed your baby rabbit any fresh food such as cabbage, this can be introduced slowly at 5 months of age. Feeding too much fresh food, or feeding fresh food at a young age can cause digestive upset.
Q: Will my rabbit(s) be used to drinking from a water bottle?
A: Yes. But we recommend giving them a water bowl for the first few days, until you see the water going down in the bottle. Sometimes the stress of moving house can stop them from exploring and finding the bottle spout.
